HCM City discusses ways to expand ties with China
People-to-people friendship is not only the common treasure of the people of Viet Nam and China, but also an important motive force for the development of the Viet Nam - China ties, affirmed Vietnamese and Chinese officials.
Duong Quan Ha, President of the Viet Nam - China Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, and Xu Mingliang, Chinese Consul General in the city shared the view a ceremony to mark the 15th anniversary of HCM City chapter of the Viet Nam - China Friendship Association on August 17.
The Chinese Consul General praised the association's contributions to boosting the friendship of the two people and Viet Nam - China comprehensive cooperation and neighbourliness.
He proposed that the association to bring into play advantages of the people-to-people diplomacy to promote social and cultural exchange activities and friendship between the two countries.
For his part, Duong Quan Ha said that his association will expand relations with some more Chinese localities such as Guangxi, Yunnan, Chongquing and Jiangsu, and promote the introduction of Vietnamese land and people to Chinese. It also plans to develop the organisation by establishing one or two chapters a year. (VNA)
