- Date of diplomatic relation establishment: March 27, 1961. The two countries appointed resident ambassadors to the other’s capital as Hanoi of Vietnam and Rabat of Morocco in March 2006.
- Exchange of delegations:
+ Vietnam’s delegations to Morocco: Deputy Minister of Trade Do Nhu Dinh (2001), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Phu Binh (2002), Vice Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly Nguyen Ngoc Tran (2003), Minister of Fisheries Ta Quang Ngoc (2004), especially the visits (for the first time since the two countries established diplomatic relations) of the delegations headed by Vietnam’s Prime Minister Phan Van Khai (November 2004) and Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly Nguyen Van An (December 2005).
+ Morocco’s delegations to Vietnam: General Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (2002), Chairman of the Lower House (2003), Minister of Sea Products (2003), and Special Minister and Envoy of the King of Morocco (two times in 2005 and 2006).
- The two countries have signed: Trade Agreement (2001), Framework Agreement on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Protocol on the Cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries, Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Official and Special Passports, MOU of Cooperation in Industry, Agreement on Cooperation between the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Union of Morocco’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Agreement on Cooperation between VCCI and the General Union of Moroccan Employers (2004).
- The trade relations between the two countries have not fully developed: According to Morocco’s statistics, Morocco imported various products from Vietnam in 2001, totally amounting to $4 million, which makes Vietnam the 75th ranking among 155 countries exporting to Morocco. The gross trade turn-over between the two countries were: $4 million (2002); $6 million (2003); $8.5 million (2004); $8.8 million (2005) and $10.7 million (2006).
