Vietnam –Tunisia Relations


-Date of diplomatic relation establishment: December 15, 1972. The Tunisian Embassy in China is concurrently in charge of Vietnam. The Vietnamese Embassy in Libya is also in charge of Tunisia.
-Exchange of delegations: The two countries have exchanged many delegations including high-level delegations of Vietnam to Tunisia: Vice President Nguyen Huu Tho (August 1978), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Dy Nien (July 1993), Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh (May 1994), Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Ha Phan (May 1995). Tunisia has also sent delegations to Vietnam, headed by: Minister of Foreign Affairs M. Masmoudi (August 1972), Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs S. Fayala (November 1997), Foreign Minister (May 1999), Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (January 2002), Foreign Minister (June 2007).
-The two countries have signed: Trade Agreement (1994), Agreement on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (1999), Frame Agreement on Cooperation in Agriculture (2002), Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Official and Special Passports, Protocol on Exchange of Ideas between Two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism between two Governments (2007).
-The economic and commercial relations between two countries have not fully developed: The gross turn-over is $10.09 million in 2000, nearly $8 million in 2003, approximately $8 million in 2004, $7.5 million in 2005 and nearly $13 million in 2006.
