Vietnam - Jordan Relations
Prior to 1975, Jordan maintained diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level with the Saigon Regime. After the reunification of Vietnam, the Jordanian Government recognized the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam.
Chronology of bilateral relations:
- 9 August 1980: Vietnam and Jordan established diplomatic relations.
- August 1982: Special Envoy led by Chairman of the Council of Ministers Vo Dong Giang visited Jordan.
- May 1994: Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh stopped over at Amman during his official visit to some Arab countries. The Jordanian Economic Minister received and held a working discussion with the Vietnamese delegation at the airport.
- 18 Nov 1994: Vietnam and Jordan concluded an Agreement on Aviation Transport, which came into effect on 30 July 1995.
- April 1995: Jordan’s Ambassador to China concurrently in charge of Vietnam visited Vietnam to present the Letter of Credential for the first time.
- March 1997: Deputy Prime Minister Phan Van Khai paid an official visit to Jordan. On this occasion, Vietnam and Jordan concluded the Trade Agreement.
