Washington (VNA) - The US-Viet Nam Business Council considers helping Viet Nam enter the World Trade Organisation (WTO) one of its main targets, council president Virgina Foote told a Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper correspondent last week, who accompanied a delegation from the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) to Washington.
Foote said the council has invited famed speakers to seminars on the matter in Viet Nam and is committed to closely cooperating in this area until the country accedes to the WTO.
She praised the VGCL's active contributions to the enforcement of the Labour Code, which not only benefits the Vietnamese working class but also reflects the Vietnamese State's commitments to its workers.
She said trade between the US and Viet Nam has increased beyond expectations since the two countries signed a bilateral trade agreement in December 2001. She added that the way the two sides forge their partnership is exemplary to the world.
