Norway to increase cooperation with Viet Nam in shipbuilding
Ha Noi (VNA) - "Norway will increase cooperation with Viet Nam in shipbuilding", said Ms. Marianne Lie, Director General of the Norwegian Ship-owners Association, who is among 130 business executives accompanying the Norwegian Royalty on a five-day visit to Viet Nam.
Shipbuilding remains a spread head industry in Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China, and it would obviously be the same in Viet Nam, she told the Viet Nam News Agency on the occasion of "Norway - Viet Nam Business Days" held in Ha Noi on Nov. 2.
Ms. Marianne said that Viet Nam can build ships for international owners and then they will supply the owners its flag, and be able to trade throughout the world.
Regarding Vietnamese - Norwegian business cooperation, the business executive said that the cooperation would develop and increase in the next few years, and that she currently has the orders of nearly 10 vessels from a Norwegian ship-owning company for Viet Nam.
"I think that the cooperation between Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) and Norway is now very good. We want Vinashin to provide labour, energy, and if possible, main engines and steel. We will provide ship designs, all kinds of supervision, and if necessary, engines or steel as well," the Director General said, adding that they would also discuss training programmes for Vietnamese seafarers.
