Vietnamese, French localities conduct 650 cooperation projects

Da Nang, Nov. 11 (VNA) - Vietnamese and French localities, over the past ten years, have conducted over 650 cooperation projects in education and training, urban management and planning, and the preservation of relics and tourism.

This was reported at a preparatory conference for the sixth conference on cooperation between Vietnamese  and French localities held in the central city of Da Nang on Thursday.

So far, 52 regions, cities and communities of France have set up relations with 22 cities and provinces of Viet Nam.

The report stated that those projects made valuable contributions to improving human resources in Viet Nam, developing local economies, improving partnership capacity and enhancing the friendship and mutual understanding between the two people. However, a large number of the projects were carried out in Viet Nam's major cities and provinces, and the two sides do not yet have enough information about the other.

Attendees of the preparatory conference agreed that the two sides should seek more interest from central agencies, work out better measures to raise the efficiency of cooperation and discover a common information bridge for partners.

The sixth conference on cooperation between Vietnamese  and French localities is scheduled to be held in Viet Nam in June next year.
