Viet Nam-Belgium Friendship Organisation holds congress

Ha Noi, Nov. 15(VNA)- Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for External Affairs Ton Nu Thi Ninh was elected as Chairwoman of the Viet Nam-Belgium Friendship Organisation for the 2004-2009 tenure during its first national congress.

Vu Xuan Hong, Chairman of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations and Philippe Jottard, Belgian ambassador to Viet Nam attended the event, which was held in Ha Noi on Monday.

The association plans to organise a series of workshops on opportunities to study in Belgium, talks on Viet Nam's renovations and musical performances to promote Viet Nam's image in Belgium and mutual understanding.

Meanwhile, the organisation will also help Belgian couples adopt children from

Viet Nam

as well as the Vietnamese community in

Belgium
