Deputy PM visits Denmark
Ha Noi, Nov. 17 (VNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan paid a two-day visit to Denmark on Monday and Tuesday.
He met with Speaker of the Danish Parliament Christian Mejdahl, worked with Deputy Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen, and Minister for Development Cooperation Bertel Haarder, and visited some leading industrial groups of Denmark.
During these meetings, the Danish leaders spoke highly of Viet Nam's achievements in the on-going renewal process as well as its process of integrating into the world economy. They affirmed Denmark would continue to grant ODA to Viet Nam in the fields of agriculture, poverty reduction, healthcare, education, fisheries and administrative and judicial reform. Denmark will continue supporting Vietnamese small- and medium-sized enterprises while encouraging its own businesses to increase their investment in and trade with Viet Nam, they said.
The Danish leaders pledged to support Viet Nam's bid to join the World Trade Organisation and the country's enhancement of economic, commercial and investment relations with the EU.
Deputy PM Khoan thanked the Danish Government and people for their assitance to Viet Nam in the recent past. He expressed his hope for further cooperation in trade and investment between the two countries.
Speaking to Danish businesses at a forum, Khoan highlighted the opportunities Viet Nam provides for foreign investors. He called on Danish businesses to increase their investment in and trade with Viet Nam, particularly in energy, construction materials, ship building, sea port construction and the farm produce processing industry.
The Vietnamese Deputy PM held a press briefing on the results of his visit before leaving Denmark.
