Central Dac Lac province discusses ties with Cambodian province

Dac Lac (VNA) -- Leaders of Viet Nam's central Dac Lac province and Cambodia's Mondulkiri province have discussed how to boost cooperation in socio-economic and cultural development between the two provinces at a meeting held in Buon Me Thuot city on Jan. 29.

The two sides informed each other of socio-economic and border situations in the recent period. They affirmed the great significance of cooperative relations between them as well as common ties between Viet Nam and Cambodia.

The two sides also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on security maintenance and close coordination in preventing and well solving issues relating to illegal migrants, strictly adhering to the commitments made at the triple meeting between Viet Nam, Cambodia and UNHCR in Ha Noi earlier this year.

The management of the fight against crime, smuggling, and the trafficking of drugs, women and children was also included in the memorandum. They additionally re-affirmed that they would not let hostile forces take advantage of their localities to undermine their cooperative ties.

The two provincial leaders agreed to soon re-open border gates on the common border line, as well as create conditions for cooperation in economic, cultural and educational development.
