HCM City, Feb. 1 (VNA) - The National Assembly's Committee for External Relations held a get-together for its members, deputies to the NA and overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City on Feb. 1 for the up-coming Vietnamese traditional New Year festival.
Speaking at the function, Chairman Vu Mao of the NA Committee for External Relations expressed his joy at witnessing a large number of overseas Vietnamese from many countries and territories returning to the country for Tet and considered it reflective of the close connection within overseas Vietnamese communities.
The Party, State and National Assembly considered and made note of the opinions raised by the overseas Vietnamese community in regard to the need for a strong renewal atmostphere and real solidarity, as well as joint effort for national comprehensive development, he said.
The NA also devived an all-round plan on work relating to overseas Vietnamese with the aim of gathering and mobilising their great potentials to contribute to building and fulfilling a system of laws and issuing important policies and strategies for the country's development.
NA deputies exchanged opinions with overseas Vietnamese on outstanding issues in executing policies for overseas Vietnamese and attracting investment, and expertise.
