HCM City to issue investment support for overseas Vietnamese

HCM City (VNA) - Ho Chi Minh City will soon issue policies to support overseas Vietnamese to invest in the homeland.

Meeting with overseas Vietnamese businessmen on Jan. 31, municipal Vice-Mayor Nguyen Huu Tin said that business procedures and licence granting agencies will be introduced on the Internet. The city's trade promotion programmes will focus on linking overseas Vietnamese businesses.

Chairman of the Club for Overseas Vietnamese Businesses Nguyen Ngoc My stressed the need to take advantage of the more than 3 million overseas Vietnamese to introduce Vietnamese goods abroad.

Phung Kim Vy, Vice-Chairwoman of the club, said that domestic businesses' trade promotion efforts will be more successful with the help of overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs. Agreeing with this viewpoint, Joiset Nguyen, who is in charge of the American Commercial Centre in Seattle State of the US, said that his company is willing to support Vietnamese businesses in marketing their products in the US.

Overseas Vietnamese send 3.8 billion USD to the country annually, according to the Association of Overseas Vietnamese Businesses.

HCM City now has 1,094 overseas Vietnamese-invested enterprises with a total registered capital of 4,150 billion VND. These enterprises are involved in commerce, services, the construction industry and the agro-forestry and fisheries sectors.
