Germany-Viet Nam Friendship Society meets
Berlin (VNA) - The Germany-Viet Nam Friendship Society (GVFS) held its congress in Duesseldorf on Feb. 12-13.
GVFS members, who actively participated in activities against the aggressive US war in Viet Nam, attended the congress with a banner, on which was written, "Continuing to unite with Viet Nam 30 years after the Viet Nam war".
Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Ba Son in a speech at the event praised the GVFS's tremendous contributions to Viet Nam since its inception in 1976, including the movements to support the Vietnamese people after the wars, and campaigns to give assistance to victims of the war and of natural calamities in Viet Nam.
At the end of the congress, the GVFS issued a resolution on the organisation of major activities in 2005, including those to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Viet Nam's independence and the 30th anniversary of the liberation of the south.
Professor Guenter Giesenfeld, who was presented with Viet Nam's Friendship Order in 2001, was re-elected GVFS President.
During the GVFS congress, a photo exhibition highlighting Viet Nam, its land and people, was held.
