Viet Nam to attend regional and world sports events
Ha Noi (VNA) - Two Vietnamese, Duong Anh Vu and Dang Dinh Tien, will compete in the team event at the World Billiard Snooker Tournament to be held in Germany from Feb. 17-19.
They will compete in the individual event in the Netherlands from Feb. 21-27.
- Viet Nam's archers will take part in the International Archery Tournament to be held in Thailand from Feb. 24-27 together with competitors from 17 countries and territories.
- Viet Nam has registered to host the World Pencak Silat Championships 2006. The country has been reigning champion for the last two years.
- Viet Nam has sent Nguyen Tien Xuan to participate in the International Marathon in Hong Kong on Feb. 27.
- Viet Nam is making preparations to host the 16th Southeast Asian Students' Sports and Games in 2006.
Young athletes will compete in about 12 events, namely football, track-and-field, Pencak Silat, swimming, Wushu, Taekwondo, Karate, table tennis, sepak takraw, basketball and volleyball.
In the 15th Southeast Asian Students' Sports and Games, Viet Nam won nine gold, four silver and seven bronze medals.
