US assistance to HIV/AIDS prevention
Ha Noi, Feb. 23 (VNA) - The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will provide non-refundable aid for the Ha Noi School of Public Health's five-year project to enhance HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in Viet Nam.
The agreement, signed in Ha Noi on Feb. 23, will mobilize 300,000 USD for the scool in the first year of the project. The project will enanable activities covering HIV/AIDS management training, development of data management systems, and development of strategic plans for HIV/AIDS prevention activities for the school.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, US Ambassador to Viet Nam Michael W. Marine affirmed that the US Government strongly supports Viet Nam's national strategy on HIV/AIDS prevention and control. US Government aid to Viet Nam is on the increase for new activities and partnership programmes within the framework of the US President's urgent plan on AIDS relief.
