Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Nina Karpachova: Viet Nam is dynamic country on right development track
Ha Noi (VNA) - Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Nina Karpachova has expressed her confidence in Viet Nam's future development.
In a recent interview with the national daily Nhan Dan (the people) during her trip to Viet Nam, the Ukrainian politician said: "Viet Nam is a dynamic and confident country in developing its economy. It has gradually strengthened its democratic foundation and always focused on improving its people's living conditions."
Karpachova said her visit to Viet Nam, made at the invitation of the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA)'s Legal Committee Vu Duc Khien, aimed to promote bilateral humanitarian cooperation.
Karpachova expressed her pleasure at meeting with NA Chairman Nguyen Van An and her working sessions with many relevant Vietnamese agencies. The two sides touched upon the two countries' specific matters, including poverty reduction, the protection of labourers' rights in the transitional period toward a market economy, and the prevention of human trafficking activities, she said. They also discussed measures to promote Viet Nam-Ukraine cooperation in politics, economy, science and technology, education and other fields.
According to Karpachova, the two countries' legislative bodies have great potential for further coordination, and to sharing experiences in different areas of activity, from compiling legal documents to organizing NA deputies' operations. The exchange of high-level delegations between the two parliaments would help strongly promote bilateral cooperation, she stressed.
Karpachova said the Ukrainian Commission for Human Rights is ready to share experiences in human rights protection with the Vietnamese National Assembly.
The Ukrainian politician noted that educational cooperation between the two countries has been fruitfully developed. At present, about 1,200 Vietnamese students are studying in Ukraine, and about 20 Ukrainian students are also studying in Vietnamese universities, she said.
Karpachova spoke about her deep impression of Viet Nam during the visit, particularly the great achievements by the Vietnamese people in their renovation process over the past almost 20 years./.
