Vietnam - China Sub-committee for Fisheries Cooperation operation strengthened
Ha Noi (VNA) - The Fisheries Ministry has strengthened the operation of the Vietnamese Sub-committee of the Viet Nam-China Joint Committee for Cooperation in Fisheries (VCJCCF) by issuing an operation regulation for the latter.
The sub-committee is required to make periodical reports on the number of Vietnamese and Chinese fishing vessels operating in the common fishing area in the Tonkin Gulf, and oversee security and national defence inspection and control in the area.
It is also responsible for instructing the implementation of the Viet Nam-China agreement on fishing cooperation, and holding regular sessions of the VCJCCF, focusing on issues relating the preservation and sustainable development of marine resources in the common fishing area, and bilateral cooperation in fisheries.
In addition, it will process reports sent by localities, coast guards, border guards, executive agencies and the Chinese sub-committee and make proposals to the Government steering committee and leaders of the ministry.
The sub-committee will be further required to update the list of Vietnamese fishing ships, which have registered to operate in the common fishing area and to grant fishing licences to Vietnamese vessels operating in legitimate territorial waters./.
