Economic cooperation between Lao, Thai, Vietnamese provinces
Quang Binh (VNA) - The three provinces of Quang Binh of Viet Nam, Khammouane of Laos, and Nakhon Pathom of Thailand have discussed agreed on cooperation in using national Highway 12 A, a trans-Asian road linking Quang Binh to the Lao and Thai provinces, for economic and tourism development.
At a meeting in central Quang Binh province from Apr. 6-7, high-level delegations of the three provinces also informed each other about their respective socio-economic development. They described the highway as an important strategic means to promote economic development in each country.
Leaders of the three provinces signed the minutes of understanding, affirming the principles of respecting the others' independence, territorial integrity, non-interference into the others' internal affairs, and equality. They agreed to promote cooperation in economy, trade, and tourism in order to fully use Highway 12A. They also will implement preferential import-export tax rates for the others.
Annual conferences will be held to review their cooperation and choose orientations for future cooperation./.
