(VNA): Truong Tan Sang, the top economic official of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), has been in Cuba since April 9 to promote bilateral co-operation.
Mr Sang, who is head of the CPV Central Committee's Economic Commission, on April 9 discussed with Juan Carlos Robinson, a Politburo member of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, measures to promote economic, commercial, scientific and technical co-operation between Vietnam and Cuba. They focused on areas in which the two countries can support each other during their national constructions.
Robinson spoke highly of the traditional friendship and co-operative relations between the Parties, States and people of the two countries.
The same day, the Vietnamese delegation laid a wreath at the memorial site for Cuban national hero Jose Marti and paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his statue in Havana.
Mr Sang, who is also a member of the CPV CC Politburo, and his entourage are scheduled to hold working sessions with leaders of the Party, Government, the Ministries of Sugar, Tourism, and Health, and the Central Bank of Cuba. They will also visit several economic, scientific, cultural and educational establishments in Havana and western Matansat province.
The Cuban mass media has carried many reports on the Vietnamese delegation's visit and Mr Sang's interviews about the historical event on April 30, 1975, as well as the Vietnam-Cuba traditional friendship.
