HCM City keen on developing co-operation with RoK, says mayor

(VNA) - Ho Chi Minh City believes it is important to develop friendly relations and co-operation with localities and businesses of the Republic of Korea (RoK), Mayor Le Thanh Hai said during his meeting with visiting RoK Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan in the city on Apr. 20.

Hai also said the Ho Chi Minh City authorities will facilitate Korean investors' operations as part of the commitments made by the two countries to become comprehensive partners.

During the meeting, the city mayor also informed the PM about the socio-economic and cultural situations of the city, as well as its important contributions to the development of the country. He also called Ho Chi Minh City a convenient investment venue, and highlighted the effective co-operation in many areas, particularly in economics, science, technology, culture and personnel training, between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan province.

Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan noted his joy at returning to Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the Vietnamese people's great historical anniversary, witnessing the changes and looking at the beautiful landscape.

PM Lee Hae-chan spoke highly of the city's position and role and noted that many entrepreneurs of his country have spoken of the advantages in investing in Viet Nam and themselves obtained fine results. He expressed his hope that the municipal authorities would continue creating favourable conditions for RoK businesses.

The RoK Prime Minister reiterated his country's interest in boosting cooperative ties with Viet Nam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular in oil and gas exploitation, information technology, electricity and electronics, education, human resource training, and social and cultural exchanges.

In the evening, Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan and his entourage met with members of the community of RoK business people who are investing and doing business in Ho Chi Minh City.
