Philippine armed forces chief visits Viet Nam
(VNA) - A ceremony was held in Ha Noi on May 18 to welcome Chief of Staff of the Philippine Armed Forces, General Afren Abu, who is leading a Philippine armed forces delegation to Viet Nam at the invitation of Senior Lieut. Gen. Phung Quang Thanh, Chief of General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army.
While meeting with his guest, Thanh said General Abu's visit will contribute to bolstering friendly ties and mutual understanding between the two peoples and armies.
General Abu expressed his delight at the opportunity to visit Viet Nam and see with his own eyes the changes that have been made in the country in recent years.
The two sides also informed each other of the socio-economic situation in their respective countries and issues of mutual concern.
On the same day, General Abu was also received by Minister of Defence, General Pham Van Tra.
This evening, Senior Lieut. Gen. Thanh will host a banquet in honour of the visiting Philippine General.
