Prime Minister receives Japanese Foreign Minister

Vietnam supports Japan's candidacy for permanent membership to the United Nations Security Council, affirmed Prime Minister Phan Van Khai during his meeting with visiting Japanese Foreign Minister Machimura Nobutaka in Hanoi on June 9.

PM Khai thanked the Japanese Government for its support for Vietnam's bid to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

He expressed his joy at the fine development of co-operative ties between Vietnam and Japan and spoke highly of Japan's role in the region and the world.

Minister Machimura said he believed the relationship between the two countries would further develop. Japan and Vietnam have finished bilateral negotiations on Vietnam's entry into the WTO, he said, adding that Japanese businesspeople are interested in the relations between the two nations as they wish to increase  investment and business in Vietnam.
