Viet Nam wishes RoK increase Official Development Aid
(VNA): Viet Nam hopes that along with offering more official development aid (ODA) to Viet Nam, the Republic of Korea (RoK) Government would expand the scale of its projects and closely coordinate with Vietnamese related agencies to raise the efficiency of ODA use, said Vietnamese Ambassador to RoK Pham Tien Van at a seminar on the RoK's ODA held in Seoul on June 28.
He noted that the RoK's ODA has been invested effectively to support socio-economic development, improve people's lives and reduce poverty in Viet Nam as well as helping to strengthen the mutual understanding between the two countries.
Since the two countries established their diplomatic ties in 1994, the RoK Government has given loans totalling 168 million USD as well as granted over 50 million USD in non-refundable aid to Viet Nam.
Delegates to the seminar acknowledged that the RoK's ODA is lower than the average level of countries under the Organisation for Cooperation and Economic Development (OECD).
This year, the RoK Government will grant 480 million USD in ODA, 114 million USD more than last year's figure.
