Viet Nam attends ASEAN-US dialogue
(VNA): A Vietnamese delegation led by Assistant Foreign Minister Nguyen Trung Thanh took part in the 18th ASEAN-US dialogue at the deputy ministerial-level, which ended in Washington on June 28.
During the two-day meeting presided over by the US and Thailand, the delegates discussed regional and global issues of common concern, as well as ways to promote the ASEAN-US dialogue.
Both sides agreed on orientations and measures to enhance the ASEAN-US cooperation at both the bilateral and multilateral levels in the political-security area, especially in trade, investment and trans-national matters in an effort to build an ASEAN-US strategic partnership in the future.
At a meeting with the head delegates and the ASEAN general-secretary, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the US will continue strengthening its ties with ASEAN, thus helping develop multi-faceted cooperation between the two sides.-
