Vietnamese FM Nguyen Dy Nien stresses ASEAN Regional Forum's role
(VNA): Vietnamese Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien stressed the role of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in maintaining and strengthening peace and stability in the region at the 12th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF-12) held in Vientiane, Laos, on July 29.
FM Nien said measures to build trust within the ARF have helped strengthen the mutual understanding among participating countries and should be continually implemented as it is a foundation of the ARF process.
The ARF must follow the agreed principles in the process of development, especially the principle of non-interference in participating countries' internal affairs, and ensure the leading role of the ASEAN, said FM Nien.
The same day, Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien received his counterparts from the Republic of Korea and New Zealand.
