Viet Nam, Venezuela bolster youth cooperation

(VNA)- Boosting cooperation among young Vietnamese and Venezuelan people, particularly in poverty reduction and job generation, was one of the major themes discussed by Dao Ngoc Dung, First Secretary of the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Viet Nam, and Enrique Ramos, Director of the National Youth Institute of Venezuela, in Caracas on August 6 during the 16th World Festival of Students and Youth.

During the meeting, Enrique Ramos said Viet Nam is the symbol of a new socialist country for Venezuela to follow. He praised the role played by young Vietnamese people and their contributions to the world youth's movements. He also expressed his wish that the youth of the two countries will share experiences and work more closely in alleviating poverty and creating jobs.

Dung will participate in the meeting of ministers of Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries, which will be hosted by Venezuela on August 11-12.

Dung said he was delighted to be a member of the Vietnamese delegation to attend the festival, and proud that his delegation was the first to be received by the National Youth Institute during the festival.

He recalled the special sentiment the Venezuelan people gave to Viet Nam during the American war and spoke highly of the organising work by the host country. He also introduced Ramos to socio-economic achievements and renewal policies in Viet Nam, and the role played by Viet Nam's youth union.

After the meeting, Dung told the press about the Vietnamese delegation's activities and role in the festival. He answered many questions related to the aftermaths of Agent Orange in Viet Nam and the fight for justice for Vietnamese AO victims.

During the festival, Viet Nam will host a seminar on the consequences of AO/dioxin used by the US army during the American war in Viet Nam, as well as the fight for peace and justice for victims in the world.
