Friendship organisations mark Malaysia's National Day

(VNA) - The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations and Ho Chi Minh City's Viet Nam-Southeast Asia Friendship Association (VSAFA) held a get-together in the city on August 29 to celebrate the 48th anniversary of Malaysia's National Day (Aug. 31).

Speaking at the function, VSAFA President Luong Van Ly affirmed that, as members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Viet Nam and Malaysia do not only share similarities in geography and culture but have also assisted each other in economic development, thus consolidating peace and expanding cooperation for the prosperity of each country and the region.

The friendship and cooperative ties between the two countries have been continuously strengthened and expanded in various fields over the recent past, including culture, education, science and labour cooperation. Two-way trade has also increased constantly, Ly added.

Malaysia has so far invested around 1.3 billion USD in 163 projects in Viet Nam, ranking 9th among investors in the country.
