Libyan people's revolution marked in Ha Noi

(VNA) - The Viet Nam Committee of Solidarity with the Libyan People (VCSLP) held a ceremony in Ha Noi on August 29 to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the Libyan people's September 1 Revolution.

Vu Xuan Hong, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations; Nguyen Tan Trinh, Chairman of the VCSLP; and the Charge d'affaires of People's Bureau of the Libyan Arab, were among the participants.

Speaking at the function, both the VCSLP Chairman and the Libyan diplomat highlighted the historical significance of the September 1 Revolution, affirming that this event was a great victory for the Libyan people, in which they overthrew the old regime and established the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.

Trinh stressed that, under the leadership of revolutionary leader Muammar Qadhafi, the Libyan people have exerted their efforts to turn Libya into a prosperous country over the past 36 years. The country's GDP per capita is rather high as compared to other African nations. Health care, education and social services in Libya have been improved continuously.

The VCSLP Chairman said he hopes that the friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese and Libyan people will further develop in the coming period.
