Viet Nam's millennium goal achievements praised
These leaders expressed their wish to boost friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam, as well as to support each other's bids to join international organisations such as the World Trade Organisation, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and the UN Security Council.
Leaders of African countries spoke highly of the 2+1 South-South cooperation programme that Viet Nam is carrying out in some African countries. They also proposed that Viet Nam co-ordinate with UN agencies and donors to continue implementing this programme.
The representative of the United Nations Children's Fund congratulated Viet Nam on its accomplishments in protecting and feeding children and praised Viet Nam's initiative to actively prevent possible negative impacts on children caused by the process of WTO entry.
While in New York, Vice President Hoa met with Mongolia's President Nambar Enkhbayar, Moldova's President Vladimir Voronin, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez Frias, Cuba's Parliament Speaker Ricardo Alarcon, Mozambique's President Armando Guebuza and Congo's President Sassou Nguessco.
Hoa also met with leaders of UN organisations, including Jacques Diouf, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation, James Morris, General Director of the World Food Programme, and Rama Salah, Deputy General Director of the UNICEF.
In addition, she met with the State and Government leaders of Cambodia, Australia, Benin, Madagascar and East Timor.
