WB supports Viet Nam's efforts for poverty reduction
The first loan worth 45.87 million USD for the Red River Delta Rural Water Supply and Sanitation project will help extend access to treated water for 800,000 people and will enable 600,000 others to have hygienic toilets and improved drainage.
The project will support initiatives in four Red River provinces of Hai Duong, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh and Thai Binh.
The second credit worth 86 million USD will finance the Natural Disaster Risk Management programme. The programme focuses on mitigating the impacts of recurring natural disasters, rehabilitating damaged infrastructure in the aftermaths of natural calamities and raising the capacity of national and local institutions in preparedness, response and long-term recovery.
The third credit worth 93.72 million USD supports the Information and Communication Technology Development project, which aims to increase the people's access to information about government policies, services and procedures. The project will also improve the government agencies' effectiveness, transparency and accountability so that they can provide better public services while effectively combating corruption.
The project comprises five subprojects in three areas, namely the modernisation of the Ministry of Post and Telematics, the modernisation of the General Statistics Office and the e-applications for the municipalities of Ha Noi, central Da Nang city and Ho Chi Minh City.
