Thanh welcomed his guest, saying his visit helps boost the traditional ties between the two people and armed forces of Viet Nam and Thailand. General Chaisit Shinawatra, for his part, thanked the Vietnamese side's hospitality and exchanged views on socio-economic development, the building of the armed forces, and discussed ways to make contributions to regional and international stability and development.

The Thai General also paid a visit to National Defence Minister, General Pham Van Tra.
