Development Assistance Database Viet Nam launched
All information on how aid is delivered by donors in provinces and sectors can be read at http://dad.mpi.gov.vn.
Addressing the launching, MPI Deputy Minister Cao Viet Sinh stressed the need to launch DAD Viet Nam, saying "it is significant not only to government agencies or donors involved, but also to aid beneficiaries."
The DAD Viet Nam project aims to improve the government's ability to obtain updated ODA-related information; enhance the government's capacity to analyze and report on ODA for better aid coordination and management; set up an initial foundation for a future integrated ODA database; strengthen harmonization; and help the government maintain and upgrade the aid information system.
In the long term, the project will also improve the efficiency, transparency and accountability of the government activities; improve policy and decision making; improve the framework for sustainable financing of development management; and promote increased transparency.
The project is part of the UNDP's support to the government's programme of strengthening ODA management and realising the commitments of donors and the government contained in the Paris Declaration and the Ha Noi Core Statement on Aid Effectiveness, Subinay Nandy, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative said.
On the occasion, the MPI also formally received the information from UNDP for the whole historical database, which has been continuously collected from donors and stored over the past 10 years.
