RoK's National Day celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City

(VNA) - The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations and Ho Chi Minh City's Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association held a get together on October 4 to mark the national day of the Republic of Korea (RoK)on October 3.

Pham Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal People's Council and President of the Ho Chi Minh City Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association, expressed delight at new developments in bilateral relations.

RoK is now the second biggest investor in Viet Nam with 959 projects worth over 4.88 billion USD.

Cultural exchange activities between Viet Nam and the RoK have been boosted. Last month a "Viet Nam Culture Week" was held in Seoul, and a Korean art troupe performed a programme entitled "Peaceful Melody" in Ha Noi, to mark Viet Nam's National Day (September 2).

Speaking at the function, Thao and Kim Ji Young, RoK's Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed their belief that the friendship and cooperation between two countries in general and between Ho Chi Minh City and its sister city, Busan, in particular will be further cemented for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
