National Assembly to ratify 14 bills of people's concern
The bills include the Anti-corruption Law, the Law on Thrift Practice and Wastefulness Fighting, the revised Law on Complaints and Denunciations, the Enterprise Law, and the Law on Bidding.
The NA deputies will also provide opinions on nine other draft laws to perfect and ratify at the next session.
The session will spend time to review the implementation of the 2005 socio-economic plan, and discuss feasible solutions to resolve existing problems in order to realise socio-economic, national defence and security, and diplomatic tasks for 2006 and the 2006-2010 period.
The deputies will later hear reports on voters' opinions given to the NA and to query cabinet members. They will also carry out special supervision of the issuance of legal documents by the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, ministerial agencies, the Supreme People's Procuracy and the Supreme People's Court.
A report by the NA's Standing Committee on its supervision of the implementation of policies to assist agricultural and rural economic development since 2001, and another report on the NA's programme of supervision work in 2005 will also be presented at the session. The NA deputies will pass a supervision programme for 2006 and give decisions on several other important issues.
Also at the opening ceremony, PM Phan Van Khai delivered a report on Viet Nam's socio-economic situation in 2005, tasks for 2006 and a draft plan on socio-economic development for the 2006-2010 period./.
