Dung is in the city to attend a China-ASEAN summit on trade and investment as well as relevant trade fair from October 18-23. He said he highly valued China's efforts in cooperating with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), of which Viet Nam is a member. He said the annual China-ASEAN summit on trade and investment and the trade fair held in China are practical contributions to boosting the formation of a free China - ASEAN trade area.

In return, the Chinese Vice President described Dung's presence at the events as a vivid example of Viet Nam's close cooperation with China within the China-ASEAN framework.
