Day of Vietnamese tea culture launched in UK

(VNA) - A day of Vietnamese tea culture was jointly organised in London on Oct. 21 by the Viet Nam Tea Association and the "Asia House" of the UK as part of a tea trade promotion programme in the UK.

Speaking at the event, which showcased various kinds of Vietnamese tea, Chairman of the Viet Nam Tea Association Nguyen Kim Phong briefed visitors about the long history of the country's tea culture.

Currently, there are 635 tea processing factories employing around 6 million tea workers in Viet Nam, Phong said, adding that Vietnamese tea products are exported to many countries around the world.

Viet Nam is one of the top ten tea producers in the world. In 2004, the country exported around 100,000 tonnes of tea. It plans to increase its tea exports to 200,000 tonnes to 95 countries in 2015./.
