Vietnamese, Chinese, US scholars' first-ever meeting on bolstering cooperation

Scholars from Viet Nam, China and the US gathered for the first time in Khanh Hoa's Nha Trang coastal city on Oct. 21-23 to discuss regional and international issues and ways to enhance tripartite relations.

Addressing the meeting, permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Le Cong Phung described the meeting as a useful and important contribution to enhancing mutual understanding, peace and stability in Asia-Pacific region.

The scholars expressed their wish to continue this initiative and pledged to work out strategic similarities in order to step up tripartite ties in the interest of each nation as well as the whole region.

The meeting was held by the Institute for International Relations (IIR) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Asia Fund. The IIR said that it had hosted bilateral meetings with the participation of scholars from China or the US./.
