PM Khai: regional business and govts need to exchange information

(VNA) - It is necessary to establish regular coordination and exchange channels among the governments and enterprises of the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (AMECS) , said Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai in Bangkok, Thailand on Nov. 2.

The Vietnamese leader, who was attending a meeting between leaders and business circles of ACMECS members-namely Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand-further said that apart from executing projects, ASMECS businesses should also advise their respective governments on cooperation programmes and the implementation of projects through the ACMECS Business Council.

PM Khai suggested other member countries share experiences in agricultural production in order to improve the lives of farmers and eliminate poverty. He also called for strengthened cooperation in human resource training among the four nations.

Since it was established two years ago, the ACMECS organisation has gained encouraging results, bringing development opportunities to its member countries and attracting an increasing amount of attention from foreign partners.

The second ACMECS summit will be kicked in off Thailand's capital on Nov. 3./.
