Diplomatic corps on field trip in Central Highlands

(VNA)- The ambassadors of Canada, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland on November 3 arrived in Dac Lac province as the second leg of their field trip to the Central Highlands.

The delegation visited the Viet Nam-Germany Coffee Company to study the coffee production and living conditions of coffee growers.

The diplomats also had working sessions with the Dac Lac Protestant and Ban Me Thuot Catholic churches to study the working and living conditions of local religious followers.

They visited the Hoang Dieu primary school in the Drao commune, Chu Ne village, Krong Buk district, where a project funded by Canada and Norway is operating.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Duong Thanh Tuong warmly welcomed the foreign diplomats. He informed them of the progress made in the provincial poverty-alleviation programme, the allocation of housing and cultivated land to people of ethnic minority groups, and the province's care for the spiritual lives of the locals.

The province has held training and refresher courses for local cadres, especially for those from ethnic minority groups, to help them join administrations and political organisations at various levels.

The delegation of ambassadors left Dac Lac province for Gia Lai province late on November 3. Earlier, they had visited Dac Nong province./.
