Australia supports Viet Nam's preparations for upcoming APEC forum

(VNA) - The Secretariat of the National Committee for the 2006 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC) opened a training course on Dec.12 for its staff, relevant agencies and officials in charge of organising the upcoming forum in Ha Noi .

During the five-day course, experts from the APEC Secretariat based in Singapore will give lectures on measures and skills needed for the preparation of large meetings like the APEC forum as well as guidelines for the host country in chairing the upcoming APEC meetings.

The course is part of the Viet Nam-Australia Cooperation Framework for the 2006 APEC forum.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Bill Tweddell, Australian Ambassador to Viet Nam, said that hosting the 2006 APEC forum would give Viet Nam opportunities to assert its status in the international arena. He also pledged Australia's commitment to help Viet Nam prepare for the forum./.
