Investment Minister: Viet Nam, a profitable investment destination
"We believe that with the continuities of intensive socio-economic renewal and with strong measures being taken to improve the investment environment, Viet Nam will become an important investment destination in Southeast Asia, a highly profitable place for international investors," the minister said.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) set out measures to attract more foreign investment in the coming time, including early issue of documents to guide the implementation of the freshly-approved Investment Law and Corporate Law, wider-application of the "one-door" licensing mechanism, timely grant of permits for land use, import-export operations and customs, and increased investment promotion activities.
The country plans to lure 6 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2006, a source from the MPI's Department of Foreign Investment said.
The source also reported that in 2005, the country attracted a total FDI of 5.9 billion USD, an increase of 30 percent more than the previous year./.
