Viet Nam's President, Spanish King in full consensus

(VNA)- State President Tran Duc Luong of Viet Nam and King Juan Carlos I of Spain reached consensus on three directions for bilateral cooperation during their talks in Ha Noi on Feb. 20.

The talks began with President Luong's welcoming speech, which described King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia's visit as important for both bilateral and multilateral ties.

The two leaders agreed to further exchange high-level visits, establish a consultancy mechanism between the two foreign ministries and further Spain's technical and material assistance to Viet Nam's industrialisation process.

The Spanish King also promised to help promote Spanish training in Viet Nam, as "the language is an effective instrument" for the Southeast Asian nation to facilitate ties with Spain and the Spanish-speaking community.

"Spain will continue giving priority status to Viet Nam among Asian partners and supporting Viet Nam in its bid to join the World Trade Organisation as well as its candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for the 2008-09 term," King Carlos I emphasised.

King Carlos I and Queen Sofia arrived in Ha Noi early on the morning of Feb. 20./.
