Viet Nam, Venezuela forge friendship and cooperation
Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van An, who led a delegation of legislative officials on a visit to Venezuela, met with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro Moros on Mar. 13.
"The Vietnamese National Assembly will encourage the Government to broaden cooperation in all areas with Venezuela, especially in oil and gas prospecting, exploitation and processing, wet rice planting, healthcare, and herbal medicine production," An said.
He also stressed that Viet Nam attaches importance to developing a friendly and comprehensive cooperation with Venezuela as well as other countries in the dynamic and prospecting Latin America.
In the future, the two sides should adopt specific and practical measures to maximize a cooperative development, elevating economic and trade ties on a par with political ties, he said.
Chairman Moros said that Venezuela wishes to build a strategic partnership with Viet Nam and to accelerate cooperation with the country to compensate for lost time.
He said that the year 2006 will mark a step forward in bilateral ties between Venezuela and Viet Nam and provide an opportunity to increase mutual understanding and explore business opportunities.
With regard to relations between the two legislative bodies, he said that the Venezuelan National Assembly has set up a Venezuela-Viet Nam friendly parliament members' group, which is tasked to boost bilateral cooperative ties and strengthen experience in law-making.
Also in the morning of Mar. 13, Chairman An met with the Vice Chairman of the Venezuelan NA and witnessed the establishment of the Venezuela-Viet Nam friendly parliament members' group./.
