President praises Party and State policy implementation in Central Highlands
President Luong attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition on Central Higlands renovation and development, held in anticipation to the upcoming Congress of Great Unity of Central Highland Ethnic Groups in Pleiku.
The exhibition reflects the results of the unity among ethnic groups in the Central Highlands under the Party's leadership, particularly over the past 20 years of renovation, as well as characters of the Central Highlands people.
The President expressed his pleasure to see the achievements recorded by Central Highlanders, including high economic growth rate over recent years, great achievements in poverty reduction and education with many localities reaching illiteracy eradication and universal primary education targets. A system of boarding schools for ethnic minority students has been established and developed in all the five Central Highlands provinces while the ethnic group's culture, including their gong culture, have been preserved and developed, President Luong said.
In the afternoon, the President Luong visited the Tra Da Industrial Zone in Pleiku. This biggest IZ of Gia Lai was put into operation in 2003, and has so far attracted 30 investment projects with a total capital of 200 billion VND, employing more than 4,000 local workers .
The same day, a postal stamp festival with the theme "Uncle Ho with ethnic people in the Central Highlands" was held in Gia Lai./.
