Party chief praises elderly' s contributions to nation
He expressed his appreciation to the VEA for having organised diverse and effective activities across the country, through which many elderly people have become bright examples for young generations in various domains.
"Each elderly person, in accordance with his/her capacity and personal conditions, has made valuable contributions to the country's political arena, economic activities, science and technology field, culture and social affairs, defence, security and the construction of the political system," the Party Chief stressed.
Manh affirmed that the Party and the State have worked out guidelines and policies with the aim of caring for the elderly' s spiritual and material lives equally while bringing into full play their untapped capacity to serve the nation's common cause and working toward social environment favourable for activities to assist the elderly, especially lonely, displaced elders.
At the celebration, VEA President Vu Oanh said that elders throughout the country have over the past time actively participated in building the Party, consolidating local administrations, promoting production activities, reducing poverty, maintaining political stability and social order, and in disseminating the Party's 10th Congress resolution.
On this occasion, the VEA Central Committee called on all elderly people to take part in advising the country's construction cause and organised a symposium on President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on culture./.
