Vietnam fosters multi-faceted relations with Laos, says National Assembly leader

(VNA) - Viet Nam will continue to foster its traditional and special multi-faceted relations with Laos in order to jointly boost the two countries' socio-economic development and enhance their people's living standards, stressed Chairman of Viet Nam's National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Van An.

Chairman Nguyen Van An made the remarks on June 20 while receiving the visiting Laos People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) General Secretary and President Choumaly Sayasone.

The Vietnamese NA leader warmly welcomed the visit by the high-level Laos Party and State delegation, led by General Secretary and President Choumaly Sayasone, describing it as an important step in the the long-standing solidarity and close cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.

NA Chairman Nguyen Van An also spoke highly of the important achievements that the Laos people have made in political and socio-economic areas.

For his part, Party General Secretary and President Choumaly highly valued the multi-faceted and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Viet Nam, as well as, the valuable assistance given by Viet Nam to his country's previous construction projects.

After the talks, the Lao leader delivered a speech to Viet Nam's National Assembly praising the achievements made by the NA in the country's renewal process, which he said contributed to building Viet Nam into a Socialist State ruled by law and enhanced democratic society.

Earlier, the high-level Party and State delegation of Laos laid wreaths at the War Martyrs' Monument and visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum./.
