Vietnamese, Lao officials work on national border marker system
The Vietnamese delegation to the meeting was led by Vu Dung, Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the Foreign Ministry's Border Department. The Lao officials were headed by Phongsavat Boupha, Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the Laos-Viet Nam Border Board.
They checked the entire content of a project to upgrade the system of border markers planted along the Vietnamese-Lao borderline and discussed other issues related to border affairs.
The Vietnamese and Lao officials agreed that the project has satisfactorily met the requirements and goals set by the two governments.
The project provides a ground for each side to build up its own plan to coordinate the implementation, they noted.
Following this meeting, each side will appraise the project in line with the regulations mandated by its country's laws and submit the results to the government for approval and financial decision for the execution.
The two sides agreed to assign experts to continue with discussions on other border-related issues in order to complete the two countries' national border marker system for the target of building their borderline into the one of peace, stability, cooperation and long-term development.(VNA)
