State President reiterates strong ties with Laos
Triet made the statement at his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulit of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City on July 18. The State leader expressed his confidence that the relations between the two Parties and States would reach a new high.
Cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos will gear to a new dimension of development, especially in economics, said President Triet.
Later in the day, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sisoulit met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who expressed satisfaction at the fine development of their special friendship and comprehensive cooperation, especially in economics and investment. Dung cited projects of cooperation in hydro-electricity, rubber planting, and infrastructure construction.
Viet Nam will do its best to contribute to boosting comprehensive cooperation between the two Governments and peoples, emphasised Prime Minister Dung.
During his meetings with Vietnamese leaders, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sisoulit highly appreciated the efficiency of projects funded by Vietnamese Government and businesses to Laos.
These projects have contributed to improving economic ties between the two countries, he said.
The Lao leader also pledged to do his utmost to develop bilateral relations as committed by the leaderships of the two Parties and States as well as to meet aspirations of the two peoples.
Sisoulit took this opportunity to convey a letter of invitation by General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and State President Choummaly Saysone to State President Nguyen Minh Triet, and the Lao Prime Minister to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung for Laos visits.
In the evening, Le Thanh Hai, a Politburo member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and HCM City Party Secretary, hosted a party in honour of the Lao delegation.(VNA)
