APEC financial institutions to convene in Ha Noi
The meeting is an annual event which takes place before the APEC Financial Ministerial Conference scheduled for early September this year.
The meeting will discuss measures to intensify the assistance and cooperation for SMEs' development, particularly to facilitate SMEs's access to financial sources and services.
According to the Incombank General Director, Pham Huy Hung, the bank will propose two initiatives to strengthen cooperation and mutual assistance between members in order to accelerate SMEs' development.
The first initiative is the creation of a biannual trade fair of APEC financial institutions dealing with SMEs. This would help promote trade between APEC member economies, provide new trading opportunities, experience sharing and market expanding for SMEs, and the extending of cooperation with other regional financial institutions.
According to Hung, if the idea is accepted, his bank will host the first trade fair late this year to introduce machines, equipment and technologies to SMEs.
The second initiative is the setting up of a coordinators' group to further the regular information exchange between member institutions as well as to guide the implementation of action plans of annual meetings, and commitments in memorandums of understanding, Hung said.
The group, he added, would serve as a link for multilateral cooperation programmes and preparations for a future association to be formed.(VNA)
