Japanese investors interested in Vietnamese market, says lawmaker

A leading Japanese lawmaker reaffirmed that Japanese investors are strongly interested in the Vietnamese market and he hoped Viet Nam will join the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in 2006.

Visiting Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Takahiro Yokomichi made the remarks at a meeting with Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van Yeu, in Ha Noi, on July 27.

Yokomichi, who arrived in Viet Nam on July 25, said the relations between Viet Nam and Japan are developing strongly, particularly in trade and economic areas, and he expressed confidence that the two countries will try their utmost to better ties.

Vice Chairman Yeu expressed hope that the fine relations between the Vietnamese and Japanese law-making bodies, governments and people will be further developed in the future.

He also expressed his thanks to the effective assistance given by the Japanese legislature, Government and people toward Viet Nam's economic development.

Earlier, the Vice Speaker and his entourage paid a working visit to Ho Chi Minh City, where they met the Chairperson of the municipal People's Council Pham Phuong Thao.(VNA)
